This is a 50-minute, hands-on introduction to the AI tools UMD already provides for staff. You’ll work at a table with colleagues and use TerpAI to finish a realistic work task, such as answering a pile of student emails, cleaning up meeting notes or tidying a purchase log. You’ll leave with a simple prompting method, a clear sense of what data is safe to use, and one task to try back at your office. No experience is needed.
Objectives:
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Log in to TerpAI with your UMD credentials and start a chat.
- Choose the right UMD AI tool for a given task.
- Classify work data as Level 1–4 and know which tools each level is allowed in.
- Write a four-part prompt (Role, Task, Context, Format) and improve the result with follow-up prompts.
- Name one specific task from your own job to try with AI in the next week.
