Challenge: 4-H in partnership with SAM was developing a curriculum to introduce aquaculture in Maryland to K-12 students.  They approached TW to design, prototype, and manufacture a hands-on curriculum aid that would be included in physical teaching kits.

Solution: TW came up with a series of 3-D concepts to illustrate oyster anatomy, an important living resource in the Chesapeake Bay.  The ideas evolved into a colorful laser-cut oyster puzzle identifying the body parts and organs. The acrylic pieces interlock and stack onto each other, enabling students to learn about oyster anatomy through hands-on interaction. The Terrapin Works Design Team prototyped and manufactured 100 oyster anatomy puzzles for the team of professors.

Technology Types: 3D Scanning Systems, Laser Cutting/Engraving
