Rapid Prototyping Center

Open to all UMD students, faculty and staff.

Important! Nemo is currently out of service due to an issue with the campus network. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. The lab is open on a walk in first come first served basis during open hours.

Important! We have recently moved into the ALEx Garage, right down the hall from the previous location in room 1113 of the IDEA Factory. Please visit us during summer open hours, M-Th 12 PM - 5 PM!

Important! Laser cutting is currently out of service while we wait for facilities to set up an appropriate outlet for it, but FDM and SLA 3D printing are available, as is 3D scanning!

The Angel P. Bezos Rapid Prototyping Lab is a state of the art makerspace in the E.A. Fernandez IDEA Factory. Here, students will have a safe environment where they can learn how to operate a variety of manufacturing tools that can be used to make any design come to life. The capabilities of this lab include 3D printing, laser cutting, 3D scanning, water jetting, and basic electronics. If you are already trained, make a reservation on our calendar to get making!

First time users come stop by the lab for a tour and learn how to reserve machines!

Useful links:

  • Nemo Reservation Calendar - use this calendar to reserve time on equipment you have completed training on
  • RPC Dozuki Page - review guides on proper machine use both when first learning and later as a reminder when you visit the space
  • Register for TW's ELMS Page - here you can find more useful information and access trainings for TW machines across all our spaces

The Rapid Prototyping Center is only open for UMD students, faculty and staff.
